The Children

At present there are, in all, 813 boys and girls, of different backgrounds, with ages ranging from 4 to 18. All of the 530 boarding in the school hostels are either destitute, underprivileged, orphans, refugees, displaced, physically disabled or street children, vulnerable to all forms of child abuse such as bonded child labour, trafficking, and addiction. While we give importance to gender mix, there is more focus on girls because of their increased vulnerability.

75% of the children come from the remote and inaccessible mountainous northern regions. The majority of them share a similar background of a variety of hardship and deprivation due to a lack of access to government services. Without our help, there would be no opportunity of going to school, having a good meal, being protected, having decent clothes and a sheltered home. Most, when they arrive, are severely malnourished, and some ill and, in some cases suffer symptoms of physical and mental abnormality.

Thanks to the support and generosity of individual donors and sponsors, these children are now enjoying the opportunity to grow up, as normal children, in the right environments.

Without our help, these children would be doomed to a life of poverty and their own children would remain trapped in this awful circle of hardship. Education is the only way out, and this is, with your help, easily achievable. Sponsorship of one child costs from only £100 - £300 a year – or £8.50 - £25.00 a month (day children or boarders) and just think of what it achieves!
